The United States has said it stands by Bangladesh’s interim government.
In Bangladesh, more than 500 people died in the popular protest against the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Following this, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post and left Dhaka with her sister.
With Hasina’s resignation, the country’s parliament was dissolved. Muhammad Yunus was appointed as the head of the interim government. In this case, the United States has said that it is standing with the interim government of Bangladesh.
Regarding this, US government spokesperson Matthew Miller said, “The US government is in touch with the interim government of Bangladesh. The US ambassador attended the inauguration ceremony of the interim government head Mohammad Yunus. The US has urged the interim government to ensure a democratic future for the people of Bangladesh.”
