It has been reported that Trump’s campaigning on the idea that millions of foreigners will be deported from the United States has upset some of his Republican Party.
American mothers would say when their children refused to eat, “If you don’t eat this food, an Indian child will come and eat it.” That is to say that the job opportunities of Americans are being taken away by foreigners including Indians.
Almost the same opinion was said by Donald Trump who became the President of the United States in 2017. Not only that, he also introduced new restrictions on the issuance of H1B visas. H1B visas are available for US companies to hire foreigners. This visa is issued for 3 years and can be extended for some more time.
An H 1 B visa holder’s spouse will be issued an H 4 visa. Through that they can also get a job opportunity in America. Trump canceled this practice when he became US president. He was adamant that Americans were the priority in employment. This caused problems for foreigners including Indians. However, when Biden came to power, he removed the restrictions imposed by Trump.
In this situation, Trump, who is contesting the US presidential election again, has taken the slogan of Mindan of the same soil. Trump is strongly presenting his opinion during the campaign as it was also decided at the Republican Party convention that foreigners should be expelled from the United States.
This seems to have upset some of his fellow Republicans. However, they are clarifying their views on Trump and the party. They reported that Trump was saying that only illegal immigrants and those living in the US without permission would be deported.
According to the statistics released a few months ago, Indians are the second most likely to get US citizenship. As of 2022, 4.6 million foreign nationals are living in the United States. This is 14 percent of the US population. 53 percent of foreigners have obtained US citizenship. A total of 2.45 million foreigners have acquired US citizenship.
Trump took Prime Minister Modi to get the support of Indians last time when he contested the US presidential election. Even so, this time he has taken up the old slogan again. His argument is that illegal immigrants increase crime in America.
In addition, Trump plans to end the system of granting citizenship to foreign-born children in the United States. He has also decided to prevent people from certain countries from entering the United States. It is said that Trump’s plan is to move foreign nationals into camps and immediately deport them from the country without giving them a chance to pursue legal action upon taking office.
American industry is likely to suffer because of it. Foreigners are increasingly working in sectors such as information technology, construction, agriculture, and dairy farming. A replacement for millions cannot be immediately created while evicting them en masse.
All this aside, Democrats say that Trump’s decision will give Kamala Harris the support of immigrants from Latin American countries. That concern appears to be shared by some Republicans.
