Thailand’s Prime Minister Shredda Thabisin has been dismissed by the court.
Phichit Saipan was appointed as a minister in the Thai government’s cabinet last April. Pichit Saipan was arrested in 2008 for trying to bribe a judge and was sentenced to 6 months in prison. His appointment as a minister sparked controversy, and Pichit Saipan resigned from his post.
In this situation, the country’s Constitutional Court has ordered the dismissal of Thai Prime Minister Shredda Thavisin, who recommended the appointment of Phichit Saipan as a minister. In its order, the court said that the prime minister has the responsibility to appoint cabinet members on the basis of merit and that Prime Minister Shredha Tavis has violated the code of conduct.
The Constitutional Court noted that not only was Appointed Minister Bichit Saipan sentenced to 6 months in prison, but the Supreme Court declared him to be of no moral character. It is to be noted that now that Shredha Tavis has been dismissed, the Cabinet will function on a caretaker basis until the Parliament approves the new Prime Minister.
