Mohammad Yunus has been appointed as the interim head of government in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh was ruled by Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. Meanwhile, protests broke out against the provision of 30 percent reservation in government jobs to the family members of those who participated in the country’s liberation war. Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and took refuge in India as the protest intensified.
After Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister, President Mohammad Sahabuddin ordered the dissolution of the country’s parliament. Also, the President held talks with the commanders of the three armies and the representatives of the protesting student groups regarding the formation of the interim government. During these talks, it was decided to appoint Nobel Prize winning economist Mohammad Younis as the head of the interim government.
In this case, the President of Bangladesh has appointed Mohammed Younis as the head of the interim government.
