Islamists are protesting by besieging the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
The struggle of Muslims against reservation in Bangladesh turned violent. Due to the crisis, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post and left the country. He has taken temporary refuge in India and is expected to go to another country. Following the Prime Minister’s resignation, Bangladesh’s military took over.
Army Chief Waqar Uz Zaman announced that an interim government will be set up in the country until elections are held and a new government is formed. Subsequently, President Mohammad Sahabuddin ordered the dissolution of Parliament. According to the country’s law, elections are expected to be held in Bangladesh within the next 3 months. Until then, the country will be led by an interim government. So the army started seriously in the process of setting up the interim government. A consultation was held with the Chancellor.
In this consultation, student representatives played an important role. The student representatives were adamant that the interim government should be headed by Nobel Prize-winning economist Mohammad Yunus. Accepting the demand of the students, Muhammad Yunus also agreed to head the interim government. The army also accepted it. Subsequently, 84-year-old Muhammad Yunus was officially announced as the head of the interim government. He took charge the day before yesterday.
But normalcy is still not back in Bangladesh. As the struggle of Muslims continues everywhere, today the Muslims besieged the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Muslims are protesting that the Chief Justice should resign from his post within an hour. Due to this, the tension in Bangladesh has again reached its peak.
