Attacks against Pakistan by the Balochistan Liberation Army have increased following the visit of China’s Army Chief of Army Staff, Lee Qioming, to Islamabad. Currently, the Balochistan insurgency poses a major threat to Pakistan. A news package about it.
The merger of Balochistan with Pakistan on 27 March 1948 was not by the will of the Baloch people but by military compulsion.
Beginning in 1948 till date, there have been five major protests in Balochistan. However, on August 25, the Balochistan Liberation Army attacked the police station, security personnel, bridges, railway tracks, vehicles, etc.
In 2006, Nawab Akbar Shahbaz Khan, who fought for the rights of the Baloch people and the liberation of the country, was killed by the Pakistani army while the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif returned to China.
Until his death, Nawab Akbar Shahbaz Khan not only opposed Pakistan for Balochistan’s independence but also stood in the way of Chinese attempts to exploit Balochistan’s natural resources. It is also said that he was killed for that reason.
The killing of the Nawab was followed by the China-Pakistan agreement on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in 2015 and the opening of the Gwadar deep-sea port in 2016.
Pakistan has allowed Chinese companies to exploit natural resources in Balochistan. Chinese companies are beginning to extract valuable natural assets without considering the interests of local people.
Baloch people have embarked on a vigorous struggle against China’s dominance in Balochistan. As a manifestation of this, the Balochistan Liberation Army has carried out attacks on the occasion of Nawab’s 18th birth anniversary.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the attacks were aimed at affecting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a US$65 billion project to develop road, rail and port infrastructure in Pakistan as part of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative.
The Baloch Liberation Army has intensified its attacks on Punjabis and Sindhis from other parts of Pakistan working in Balochistan.
They are also attacking foreign energy companies. Chinese energy companies exploiting Balochistan’s resources are also being attacked.
In this case, along with Pakistan, China has labeled the Baloch people as terrorists and is supporting and helping Pakistan’s military operations to kill them.
The Chinese government has long used repression to drive out Uyghur Muslims, who are native to China’s Xinjiang province. Similarly, Pakistan has been oppressing the Baloch people. Pakistan along with China is waging a war against the Baloch people both covertly and openly.
As a result, both the countries are currently in a state of confusion due to the unexpected attack of the Balochistan Liberation Army.
If this situation continues, it is said that civil war will become inevitable in Pakistan, which is already in economic decline.
