A powerful earthquake on Russia’s east coast caused the eruption of the Shiveluch volcano.
A powerful earthquake struck off the coast of eastern Kamchatka, Russia. It was recorded as 7.0 on the Richter scale, according to the US Geological Survey.
Early in the morning, the epicenter of the earthquake was located about 90 kilometers east of Russia and at a depth of 50 kilometers, and subsequent light tremors were reported.
It is said that the Shiveluch volcano erupted due to the earthquake, and the ash released from it spread in the surrounding areas. Rescue operations are in full swing.
