Jayasuriya has said that he will step down as the coach of the Sri Lankan team after the England series.
Sri Lanka won the 3-match ODI series at home against India by 2-0. So Sri Lanka has won a bilateral ODI series against India after 27 years.
In this case, Sri Lanka coach Sanath Jayasuriya has said that Rajasthan team’s assistant coach Zubin Bharucha helped them defeat India in the IPL series. And Jayasuriya has said that he will step down from the position of coach with the next England series, which will take place on a temporary basis.
He spoke about it as follows:- “I got Zubin Bharucha from Rajasthan Royals. He came here and trained for 7 days. We learned a lot from him. Especially how to play long innings, how a batsman can bat for 2-3 hours. It gave our batsmen a lot of confidence.
All our talented players needed was confidence. If you bat well and bowl well, confidence will come naturally. At the end of the day we beat the No. 1 team in the world. Sri Lanka are currently looking for a good coach. I came only for the India and England series. I will be there for high quality activities. I will continue to support Sri Lankan cricket.
I would like to thank the Sri Lanka Board for providing the necessary support to our players and providing the necessary facilities to the coaches. I hope they bring in a good coach soon and develop our young players and continue this winning streak.”
