Vikram has given life to ‘Thangalaan’ as a threat.
The story takes place in the 18th century. Vikram lives with his family as a farmer in a village in North Arcot region. Later, the lands of the villagers are taken away by the zamindar through manipulation, and they are enslaved there. Then, a white man named Clement learns that there is gold in the Kolar region and says that if he brings the gold to Vikram, he will give him a share of it.
With that, Vikram leaves with some of his crowd. Ranjith’s ‘Thangalan’ answers the questions like whether they got gold in this journey and how this journey changes their lives.
Vikram has given life to ‘Thangalan’ of that era with his unique body language and monstrous performance in emotional scenes and action scenes.
Parvathy, who plays Vikram’s wife, attracts attention with her realistic performance. While Malavika Menon’s performance has been questioned, she has done justice to the fight scenes and scare scenes as the aggressive action villain.
All the characters, including Pashupati, who come as supporting characters, are perfectly designed and acted, which deserves great praise. Music by GV Prakash lifts the film. Cinematography and cinematography have brought innovation to Ba.Ranjith’s film sequences.
Kishore’s hand is shown mainly in the action scenes. Some of the scenes in the latter are too weak to move without tension. Director Pa. Ranjith has given a quality work in a grand display in the historical background.
