JaganMohan Reddy’s YSR Congress has suffered its worst defeat in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. What are the reasons for this? Let’s see about that.
In the 2019 general elections in Andhra Pradesh, the YSR Congress won 151 assembly constituencies and 23 Lok Sabha constituencies.
Jagan Mohan Reddy was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the last 5 years.
Now, in the just concluded elections, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party has won just ten assembly seats and four Lok Sabha seats.
Although it is widely talked about that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s anarchist political activities are the reason for this bad defeat, there are many other reasons for his defeat beyond that.
After coming to power, Jagan Mohan Reddy started losing influence with the people of Andhra Pradesh since he demolished the residence of Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu Naidu’s re-arrest and imprisonment months before the 2024 elections only fueled public anger against Jagan Mohan Reddy. It created sympathy among people for Chandrababu Naidu.
This was the biggest turning point in Andhra politics. Actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena party, which has the support of most of Andhra’s youth, formed an alliance with Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desa Party.
The Jana Sena and Telugu Desam parties contested the elections together in the National Democratic Alliance led by Prime Minister Modi. Due to this, Jagan Mohan Reddy was forced to face the election alone.
PRS leader KCR lost the 2023 Telangana elections because he did not replace old candidates. But Jaganmohan Reddy fielded newcomers in 102 constituencies. Needless to say, this also did not work for him.
Also, Nara Lokesh, the general secretary of Telugu Desam Party and son of Chandrababu Naidu, started from Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh and reached Srikakulam on foot pilgrimage of more than 3000 kilometers and met the people directly.
Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has focused only on welfare schemes for senior citizens, auto drivers and other unorganized workers, has left the line in the case of government employees.
Attacks on doctors, teachers’ discontent, action on Anganwadi workers, irregularities in payment of salaries to 8 lakh government employees, all government employees have voted against Jagan, political observers have said.
Pawan Kalyan, Chandrababu Naidu and Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh have continuously leveled criticism at Jagan Mohan Reddy. At one point he was even criticized as a psycho.
Also, Jagan Mohan Reddy won as a Member of Parliament, this time in his family constituency Kadapa, his own younger sister Sharmila contested on behalf of Congress and failed. It is also said that he also campaigned harshly against Jagan Mohan Reddy in his campaigns which created opposition across the state. Also law and order disorder, increase in drug traffic,
Apart from this, the campaign of the National Democratic Alliance regarding the Land Rights Act brought by Jagan Mohan Reddy has brought about a great change among the people.
The people of Andhra Pradesh say that Jagan Mohan Reddy, who ruled like a dictator for the past five years, has lost by his own actions.
