As Narendra Modi is going to be sworn in as Prime Minister tomorrow, the President of Maldives has also been invited to participate in the ceremony. The call is seen as significant as there are already tensions between the two countries.
The BJP did not get a majority in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. However, the NDA alliance has got majority. Hence, Narendra Modi requested President Draupadi Murmu to form the government by giving a list of supporting MPs. With the President also calling for government formation, Narendra Modi will be sworn in as Prime Minister again tomorrow evening.
After Nehru, Modi takes office with the honor of becoming the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. Therefore, the Prime Ministers and Presidents of the allied countries have been invited to Delhi to highlight this. One of them is the President of Maldives, Mohammed Muiju. Already many panchayats are running for India and for him.
Muiju is basically pro-Chinese. In the country’s parliamentary elections held last year, he faced the election by openly saying, “If we win, we will expel the Indian soldiers from the Maldives.” He succeeded in that. After this, our 90 soldiers who were present there have been completely evacuated.
That is, Maldives was provided with Tornier 228 maritime patrol aircraft and two HAL Dhruv helicopters on behalf of India. About 90 Indian soldiers came from there to help the Maldivian Army to maintain and operate it. But the president of the country, Mohamed Muiju, ordered the evacuation of all the soldiers, saying that their stay in the Maldives for a long time was infringing on their sovereignty.
