Famous ‘Bangladesh player Mahmudullah’ has decided to retire from Test cricket.
The 35-year-old all-rounder Mohammad Mahmudullah has played 50 Tests, 197 ODIs and 89 T20Is for Bangladesh. He made his international debut in 2007.
Mahmudullah (currently in his 50th Test), who is currently playing in a Test against Zimbabwe, has announced his retirement from Test cricket at the end of the third day’s play. However, he has not yet officially announced this.
Mahmudullah batted brilliantly in this Test and was unbeaten on 150 runs. This is his 5th Test century. Until 2017, Mahmudullah played in all types of cricket in Bangladesh. However he has been dropped from the team twice in the last four years. He has been the captain of the Bangladesh team in T20 matches since 2019.
Bangladesh Cricket Board chairman Nasmul Hassan has refused to accept Mahmudullah’s decision. In an interview he said: I have not been officially informed of this. But the information has come. Could not test yet. Mahmudullah has made this decision emotionally. Such an announcement would have a negative impact on the team. This cannot be accepted. So I have no problem if someone does not want to play. But said not to cause confusion in the middle of the series.
