Born the son of an average housekeeper in Raikala village in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, Mohan Saran Maji “thanked the four and a half crore people of Odia who voted for change and said that this victory was due to the blessings of Puri Jagannath.”

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Saran Maji, who has completed his bachelor’s degree and post-law studies, at a young age was socially committed and served the tribal people.
He served as the panchayat president from 1997 to 2000 and has served as the general secretary of the Odisha tribal unit of the BJP and as the legislative whip of the party. He has also served as Chairman of Public Accounts Committee.
This is his fourth consecutive term since he was first elected to the Legislative Assembly from Keonchar constituency in 2000.

Biju Janata Dal’s only woman minister, women and child development minister Pramila Mallik, was accused of a 700 crore dal scam.
In 2023, BJP Legislative Whip Mohan Saran was suspended from the Odisha Assembly for allegedly throwing unboiled lentils at the Speaker against this corruption.
At that time, Mohan Saran Maji had said that the action was completely unfair as he did not throw dal on the Speaker and challenged the Speaker and the ruling party to prove the allegations against him.
Mohan Charan Maji is the one who has already instructed his party legislators not to throw pulses at the Speaker. However, he raised a strong and justified objection in the House about the Rs 700 crore dal scam.
