The Madras High Court has said that those who prevent the hoisting of the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day should be jailed under the Thug Act.
An appeal was filed in the Madras High Court against the prevention of the hoisting of the national flag by the former administrators in the Residential Welfare Society and it should be heard as an urgent case.
Also, a request was made on behalf of the Resident Welfare Association to provide police protection in line with the national flag.
Justice Jayachandran, who inquired into this, said that those who prevent hoisting of the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day should be jailed under thug law.
He also condemned the provision of national flag protection as a disgrace. The judge said that no one can stop the hoisting of the flag and mentioned that if the police department does not take action against the obstructionists, a case may be filed.
