The incident in Odisha, involving a brutal murder and the subsequent police investigation, has shocked and saddened many. Mahalakshmi, a 29-year-old woman living in a rented house in the Vyalikaval area of Bengaluru, was found brutally murdered. Her dismembered body, cut into 59 pieces, was discovered stored in her refrigerator on the 21st of the month. The gruesome discovery left both the public and the police in shock.
A case was filed at the Vyalikaval police station, and eight special teams were formed under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sekhar, to catch the perpetrator. The police investigation revealed that Mukti Rajan Pratap Rai, a 28-year-old man from Odisha, who worked with Mahalakshmi at a commercial establishment, was the prime suspect in her murder.
Further investigation revealed that Mukti Rajan’s phone had initially been switched off in West Bengal. This prompted the police to head to West Bengal to track him. Later, they received information that he had fled to his native village in Odisha and was hiding in a nearby forested area.
The special police teams, along with local police, intensified their search for Mukti Rajan in Odisha. However, in an unexpected turn of events, they found him dead, hanging from a tree. It appeared that, upon realizing the police were closing in on him, Mukti Rajan decided to commit suicide to avoid arrest.
Preliminary police reports suggest that Mukti Rajan chose to end his life to evade capture. The investigation is still ongoing, with police delving deeper into the case to uncover the full motive behind Mahalakshmi’s tragic murder and Mukti Rajan’s role in the crime. The incident has left a trail of unanswered questions and a community in mourning.
