Terrorist shot dead in Kashmir encounter
Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in 3 phases. Accordingly, the first phase election will be held on September 18, the second phase election on September 25, and the third phase election on October 1. The votes will be counted on October 4 and the results will be announced on the same day.
As the election approaches, political parties have started campaigning. At the same time, the Election Commission is taking serious steps to conduct the election safely without any untoward incident. Also, the security forces are conducting intensive raids to prevent political parties from giving money and gifts to voters during elections. Accordingly, security forces have been deployed in various areas.
In this case, the security forces were conducting a vehicle search in Sopur, Waterchem area of Kashmir’s Baramulla district this evening. The terrorist who came there then opened fire on the security forces. The security forces also retaliated.
The terrorist was shot dead in the attack. A handgun, grenades and bullets were seized from the slain terrorist. Also, the security forces are conducting intensive search in the area where the encounter took place.
