Tamil Nadu BJP state president Annamalai has questioned whether the DMK’s intention is to cheat small and marginal farmers and when will the crop loans be waived.
In a statement issued in this regard, he said that the DMK government has been cheating the poor and ordinary people by making false promises in order to somehow come to power and has not been concerned about the election promises since coming to power.
The Chief Minister and ministers are saying one percent per person regarding the fulfillment of election promises. He said that in the last four years, the DMK government has been facing many hardships such as law and order situation, increase in drug circulation, increase in atrocities against women and scheduled castes, unemployment, etc. During the last 2021 election campaign, M.K. Stalin promised to waive farm loans as soon as he came to power. Promise number 33 in the DMK election manifesto also stated that the crop loans of small and marginal farmers would be waived.
But, even after four years, the DMK is still betraying the simple farmers by not canceling crop loans
Last year, Minister Mr. M.R.K. Panneerselvam, who spoke among the farmers, said that the Tamil Nadu government does not have funds. Annamalai mentioned that he arrogantly said that the agricultural loans of small and marginal farmers cannot be waived and that the farmers should repay the loans taken within the specified time.
Despite this, during the last 2019 parliamentary elections. The DMK had said that crop loans would be canceled. Is the DMK’s intention to deceive small and marginal farmers by making false promises? He also raised the question.
The achievement of the DMK government is that since it came to power, Rs. 35,852.48 crore has been disbursed in cooperative crop loans from 07.05.2021 to 31.12.2023, the ministers say. He said that in the last four years, small and marginal farmers have faced many problems like storms and floods.
Even so, if the outstanding cooperative crop loan as of 31.03.2024 is only Rs. 19,008 crore, then the fact that small and marginal farmers are repaying their loans properly even in these difficult times means that the DMK has hit the stomach of the farmers who were deceived by trusting the DMK’s promise.
It is completely condemnable to cheat the farmers by not fulfilling the promise of waiving crop loans even after four years. A committee should be formed immediately for this and ways should be taken to cancel the crop loans of small and marginal farmers. I urge the DMK government that the situation of the youth who have been deceived for four years should not continue even for small and marginal farmers, Annamalai said.
