Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi expressed anguish that freedom fighters have been turned into caste leaders.
An event was held at the Governor’s House in Guindy, Chennai to commemorate the anniversary of the first Indian War of Independence, the Jambuthivu Declaration and to honor those who conducted research on Tamil Nadu’s unknown freedom fighters.
At this function, the Governor released 89 research papers written by university research students on the unknown freedom struggle martyrs of Tamil Nadu. Governor R. N. Ravi, who spoke at that time, said that the Maruthu brothers had known how to expel the Europeans through the declaration of Jambut Island in 1801.
Governor RN Ravi said that the Maruthu brothers decided to unite the people and expel the Europeans through the Jambut Island Declaration and that was the first freedom struggle. The governor also requested to bring out the hidden history of freedom struggle.
