Tamil Nadu Ministers have filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a ban on the retrial in the asset transfer case.
Thangam Thanarasu, K.K.S.S.R., who are the Finance Ministers of Tamil Nadu. Ramachandran, when he was a minister in 2006, filed a case against him for adding assets in excess of his income. The Srivilliputhur Special Court, which heard these cases, acquitted everyone from the case and gave a verdict.
Madras High Court Judge N. Anand Venkatesh filed a case against this decision. After hearing the arguments of all the parties, the High Court ordered a re-investigation of the asset embezzlement cases against the two ministers.
Against this, Minister KKSSR Ramachandran, his wife R. Adilakshmi, Minister Thangam Thennarasu and his wife T. Manimegala filed appeals in the Supreme Court. These petitions are coming up for hearing in the Supreme Court today (Friday).
