The Supreme Court has closed the contempt of court case against Patanjali.
Famous yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s company ‘Pathanjali’ is marketing various products ranging from Ayurvedic medicines, cosmetics to food products. But the Indian Medical Association filed a case in the Supreme Court alleging that the company was making false advertisements against modern medicines.
The Supreme Court, which heard the case, condemned the Patanjali company and warned that it would be fined for publishing false advertisements. Patanjali company lawyer assured that they will not act in violation of the law. Even after that objectionable advertisements were published. Following this, a contempt of court case was filed.
Baba Ramdev was also ordered to issue an advertisement in newspapers apologizing for the false advertisement. Following this, Baba Ramdev’s apologetic advertisement was given in newspapers last April.
In this case, this case came up for hearing today. Then Patanjali company gave a guarantee that they will not publish false advertisements. The Supreme Court accepted Patanjali Foundation’s guarantee and ordered the contempt case to be closed.
It is noteworthy that Baba Ramdev, the co-founder of Patanjali, appeared in court 3 times for this case and apologized.
