Nitin Gadkari said that in the year 2022 alone, more than 50 thousand people have been killed in accidents by riding two-wheelers without wearing helmets.
The World Security Conference was held in Delhi from 2nd to 4th. Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari participated in the event. Then he said:-
Violations on roads in India are rampant. How much is the fine for violators? The government cannot keep increasing the fine amount. This is the problem. To solve this problem, it is necessary to bring about changes in the mindset of road users.
We are using technologies to strictly enforce the rules of the road. We have also increased the fines for violators but to no avail.
In 2019, the Central Government brought amendments in the Motor Vehicle Act. Accordingly, the fine was increased. Even after that, road violations are increasing. Laws alone cannot prevent road accidents. There should be a change in the mindset of motorists. Drive vehicles safely. Casualties increase as two-wheelers ride without helmets. In the year 2022 alone, 50,029 people died in accidents involving two-wheeler riders without helmets.
Thus he spoke.
