Central Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that he is ready to allocate Rs 5 thousand crores for Tamil Nadu road projects.
Rajesh Kumar, the DMK MP of the Rajya Sabha, speaking during the question hour, said that the funds allocated to Tamil Nadu under the plan for 2023 and 2024 are Rs 657.53 crore which is not enough for Tamil Nadu. Therefore, he said that about Rs.2000 crore should be allocated to Tamil Nadu in the current financial year without any shortfall or delay.
Speaking in response to this, the Central Minister of Highways Nitin Gadkari said, “We have not set any limit on providing funds to the Tamil Highway Department. We are ready to allocate not Rs. 2000 crores, but even Rs. 5000 crores. We have already taken various decisions in this regard. The acquisition of land should also be confirmed. The central government will also take all related steps.” He said.
