BJP MP Raksha Katse has been sworn in as Union Joint Minister in the Narendra Modi-led government. Raksha, who has become an MP for the 3rd time in the state of Maharashtra, has been included in the cabinet for the first time.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Raksha Katse won on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party from the Rever constituency in Maharashtra. With Narendra Modi and 72 ministers sworn in today at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Raksha Katsev got a seat in the cabinet.
Who is this Raksha Katse?: Raksha Katse is a two-time MP from Raver constituency. He was the youngest MP who won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections at the age of 26 and was re-elected as an MP in 2019. In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Raksha Gadse defeated Sriram Patil of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharath Pawar) in the Jalgaon Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of 3.36 lakh votes.
Husband Suicide: Raksha Katse, Bachelors in Computer Science. Her husband, Nikhil Katse, committed suicide by shooting himself in 2013. He has 2 children. Raksha Khatse’s father-in-law Eknath Khatse has been a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party.
Raksha Gadse started her political journey in 2010. He served as Panchayat President of Tal-Muktainagar in Jalgaon District, Maharashtra. Later, she was elected member of Jalgaon District Council and Chairman of Women and Child Welfare Committee.
Raksha Khatse’s father-in-law Eknath Khatse was an important leader in the BJP. He is a former Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Currently, he is an MLC from NCP party since 2020.
Eknath Khatse’s daughter-in-law: However, it is said that Eknath Khatse may join the BJP soon. Eknath Katse campaigned for his daughter-in-law Raksha in the recent elections despite being an MLC of NCP – Sarath Pawar’s party.
Raksha’s appointment as a Union minister will continue to shore up BJP’s support from other backward classes in north Maharashtra, political sources in Maharashtra said.
6 MPs from Maharashtra Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Raksha Katse, Muralidhar Mohol, Ramdas Atwale and Prataprav Jadhav have been sworn in as ministers in the National Democratic Alliance government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Ministers Narayan Rane and Dr. Bhagwat Karath did not get a place in the new cabinet.
