Relief works are going on in full swing in Wayanad, which has been devastated by landslides.
In the state of Kerala, on the 29th of last month, 3 consecutive landslides occurred in Wayanad. The number of people who have died in this landslide that has shaken the country has risen to 420 so far. The search for the missing persons is ongoing.
Every day bodies and body parts are being found from different areas. While more than a thousand people have been rescued alive so far, many have been kept in relief camps.
In this situation, relief work is going on in full swing in Wayanad, which has been devastated by the landslide. State Public Works Minister Mohammad Riaz and Forest Minister Saseetharan visited these works. Later he told reporters:-
We have requested the central committee which visited the disaster affected areas in Wayanad for immediate funds for reconstruction works. They said that they have requested Rs.2 thousand crores from the central government to rehabilitate the landslide affected areas. They also said that the clean-up work in Wayanad should start immediately and it will take only 90 days.
