Ajith Doval’s visit to Sri Lanka is considered important as the presidential election is going to be held in Sri Lanka on September 21.
Electricity projects to establish renewable energy system in 3 islands namely Nedunthivu, Nainathivu and Analathivu in Sri Lanka are being implemented under Indian grant aid. These projects are being implemented with the aim of meeting the electricity needs of the people of the 3 islands. India has pledged $11 million (about Rs. 92 crore) in funding for these projects.
In this situation, India yesterday provided the first batch of financing for power projects to Sri Lanka. In this regard, the Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka posted on site X said, “The first package of financing for the power projects of the 3 islands was handed over to the Secretary of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Power and Energy Sulakshana Jayawardane and the Chairman of the Sri Lankan Energy Commission.”
