The toll plazas come under the control of the National Highways Authority. There are total 67 toll booths in Tamil Nadu. These tolls are changed twice a year in the months of April and September. Due to the election, the fares were not increased in April this year. In contrast, in June, charges were revised at 36 toll booths. Tolls at these toll booths have been hiked up to 5 percent.

The toll has been hiked by 5 to 7 percent, whereby vehicles passing through these toll booths will have to pay an additional fee of around Rs.5 to Rs.150 over the existing toll.
