A girl was sexually assaulted by bus drivers and conductors in Uttarakhand.
A 17-year-old girl from Moradabad, Uttarakhand, ran away from home after fighting with her parents. The girl, who had traveled by bus on the last 12th and arrived at Delhi ISPT bus station, asked one of the conductors how to get to Punjab.
Then the conductor asked the girl to board his bus and said that she can go to Punjab from Dehradun. Trusting the conductor’s words, the girl also boarded the bus. When the bus reached Dehradun, Uttarakhand, all the passengers got off. Taking advantage of the night time and the lack of crowd at the bus station, both the bus driver and the conductor kept them inside the bus and sexually assaulted them.
Following this, both the driver and conductor of the bus parked nearby sexually assaulted the girl. After this, the operator informed the cashier about the incident when he handed over the money at the cash counter. Keshia also abused the girl. After this they left the girl at the bus stand.
The girl, who was attacked by a gang of 5 people, was alone at the bus station at night. The Child Welfare Committee was informed about the whereabouts of the girl. After this, the girl got a helping hand. The Child Welfare Committee reached the bus station and took the girl to the Government Women’s Home for safety.
The incident came to light when the girl was interrogated there. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case, examined the CCTV footage of the bus station and arrested the 5 criminals. They are still being investigated.
The police found the girl’s parents during the investigation and handed over the girl to her parents. The incident of rape of a girl in a bus has now come to light and has caused shockwaves in the state. Opposition parties are accusing that there is no security for women.
