Farmers are happy that Athikadavu-Avinasi project is a reality today.
Athikadavu-Avinasi project is a long-term demand of the farmers of 3 districts of Erode, Tirupur and Coimbatore. In 2018, a fund of Rs.250 crore was allocated and the project was expanded. At present the works have been completed at a cost of Rs.1,916 crores and 41 lakhs.
In this situation, Athikadavu-Avinasi project is going to be launched today (Saturday). The inaugural ceremony will be held at Bhavani Kalingarayan dam’s first water station. Prime Minister M.K.Stalin will inaugurate the project through a video presentation at 10 am from the Chief Secretariat in Chennai.
With this project operational, the lakes, ponds and ponds in the dry areas of 3 districts of Erode, Tirupur and Coimbatore will be filled with water through pipes. Due to this, the ground water level in agricultural wells and boreholes will rise and drinking water problem will be solved and 24 thousand 468 acres of agricultural land in 3 districts will be benefited. It is reported that the ground water level will also rise.
