O.Panneerselvam has insisted that the movement of drugs should be suppressed with an iron hand.
Former Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam has said in a statement:-
As it is rare to be born as a human being, even if born as such, it is even rarer to excel in education, so boys and girls used to study in schools and get education and morals. But in the last three years of DMK rule, there is a danger of schools becoming drug dens. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the main reason for this is the administrative incompetence of the DMK government.
A news in the newspaper is shocking that a girl studying in a school in Kalyanapuram, Vyasarpadi, Chennai was celebrated with a bottle of beer on her birthday. It has been reported in the newspaper that the students of this school are taking ‘Pedi’ in the school premises, the drug ‘Cool Lip’ is commonly found on the school floor, this drug is brought from Bangalore and sold for 150 rupees per box, and there is drug traffic in many schools in North Chennai.
In the said school, the laboratory and library are closed, the newly purchased desks are stacked on top of each other in the laboratory, the computer room is in disarray, the 12th class students are sitting in the biology laboratory room, the toilet is in unhygienic condition, there is no drinking water for the students. It is also said that there is a harsh situation where drinking water can be given.
It is said that despite having a very large ground in the school, due to the lack of sports teachers and sports equipment, students are unable to engage in sports. According to “One Soru Padam for a Pot of Rice”, this plight persists in all the schools in Tamil Nadu. Schools do not have the necessary infrastructure, teacher appointment, maintenance, drinking water facility etc. At the same time, the movement of narcotics is rampant.

Therefore, on behalf of the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Volunteers Rights Rescue Committee, I request that First Minister M. K.Stalin should pay special attention to this immediately and provide necessary basic facilities to the schools and suppress the movement of drugs with an iron hand.
