India’s Ministry of External Affairs has strongly condemned Iran’s Supreme Leader’s comments on minorities in India, saying they are misinformed and unacceptable.
It also advised Iran’s Supreme Leader that countries commenting on minorities should not forget what is happening in their own country before speaking about others.
Notably, this is not the first time that Iran’s Supreme Leader has commented on Muslims in India.
Ayatollah Ali Khomeini had expressed concern even as Prime Minister Modi’s government abrogated Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. And after bringing the Citizenship Amendment Act in 2020, he had said that extremist Hindus were behind the riots in the capital Delhi and that the massacre of Indian Muslims should be stopped.
Trade relations between India and Iran date back thousands of years.

India is developing Sabakar port on Iran’s southeast coast on the Gulf of Oman, bypassing Pakistan’s Karachi and Gwadar ports to transport cargo to Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asian countries.
For this, Iran has signed a 10-year agreement with India to manage and develop its country’s main port, Sabakar Port.
Iran, which generally prefers to maintain good relations with India, is now seen as unwarranted by the international community.
Two years have passed since Amini, who led the anti-hijab movement in Iran, was killed two years ago. On Amini’s second anniversary, thousands of Iranian women marched through the streets of the capital, Tehran.
The women also went on a hunger strike in memory of Amini while imprisoned in Evin prison in Tehran. Iran, which is facing various problems like this internally, has been criticized that commenting on the people of another country is ridiculous.
Don’t take a lesson, look back – India warns Iran!
