In this situation, important ministers, party executives and volunteers were demanding that Minister Udayanidhi Stalin should be given the post of Deputy Chief Minister. A few days ago, when reporters asked Chief Minister M. K. Stalin when Udhayanidhi Stalin would be given the post of Deputy Chief Minister, he replied that the demand was strong but not ripe.
In this context, Prime Minister M. K. Stalin, who answered the same question after returning from America, replied that there will be change… there will be no disappointment… The party workers were expecting that the Cabinet reshuffle would be soon and Udhayanidhi Stalin would soon become the Deputy Chief Minister.
In this situation, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin had sent a letter of recommendation to the Governor today regarding the change in the Cabinet. Accordingly, Governor RN Ravi approved the reshuffle of the Tamil Nadu Cabinet yesterday.
In this regard, the official announcement issued by the Governor’s House has said:-
Minister Udayanidhi Stalin is appointed as Deputy Prime Minister on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.
Senji Mastan, Ramachandran and Mano Thangaraj, who are currently ministers, will be removed from their ministerial posts.
Instead, Senthil Balaji, Nasser, Govi. Chezhian and Rajendran became the new ministers.
The portfolios of 6 ministers have been reshuffled.
Higher Education Minister Ponmudi has the Forest Department, Finance and Human Resource Development Minister Thangam Tennaras has the Finance and Environmental Welfare Department, Environment Minister V. Meyyanathan has the Backward Welfare Department, Adi Dravidian Welfare Minister Kayalvizhi has the Human Resource Development Department, Forest Minister Mathivendan has the Adi Dravidian Welfare Department and Backward People Welfare Minister Rajakannapana Departments are also allocated.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers will be held today (Sunday) at 3.30 pm at the Governor’s House.

Senthilbalaji, who is newly in the cabinet, was elected as MLA from Karur constituency and Kovi Chezhian from Thiruvidaimarudur constituency.
Kovi Chezhiyan is also working as Chief Whip of Tamil Nadu Government. Rajendran was elected MLA from Salem North constituency and Avadi Nasser from Avadi constituency. Meanwhile, Ramachandran, who was removed from the cabinet, has been given the post of Chief Government Whip.
