Narendra Modi is going to be sworn in as the Prime Minister today for the 3rd time in a row in a hat-trick. On this occasion, he visited the memorials of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Vajpayee in Delhi and paid homage by bowing hands and sprinkling flowers.
The results of the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections were announced on the 4th. Out of total 543 constituencies, a party needs to win 272 seats to win the central government alone.
Otherwise, coalition government can be formed at the center by adding 272 MPs with the help of coalition parties. In that sense, no party has got a single majority at present.
BJP has emerged as the single largest party by winning 240 constituencies. Other parties including allies Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s United Janata Dal, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and former Karnataka Chief Minister Kumaraswamy’s JDS have 52 MPs. With the help of the MPs of the coalition parties, the BJP-led NDA government is going to be formed at the center today.
It is in this context that Narendra Modi is going to take office as the Prime Minister again. In the last 2014 and 2019, he took office as the Prime Minister and completed 10 consecutive years of work. Today, he is set to become Prime Minister for the 3rd consecutive term, equaling the feat of late former Prime Minister Nehru. Narendra Modi will be sworn in as Prime Minister again at 7.15 pm tonight. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Presidential Palace.
President Thirelapathi Murmu administers oath of office and secrecy to Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. In this case, this morning before his inauguration, Modi went to Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial in Rajghat, Delhi and paid obeisance. After that he paid his respects by showering flowers.
Similarly, Modi visited the memorial of the late former Prime Minister Vajpayee and paid his respects by bowing and offering flowers. He also visited the memorials of the leaders and paid obeisance. He also laid a wreath at the war memorial in Delhi. It is noteworthy that on the occasion of Prime Minister Modi’s visit, the memorials of the leaders and the war memorial were decorated with flowers.
