22 people have died due to heavy rains and floods in Tripura so far.
Tripura has been experiencing continuous heavy rains for the past 3 days. The heavy rain caused flooding of roads and residential areas and led to landslides. Heavy rains are falling in the state in the last 30 years.
So far 22 people have died due to floods and landslides in the state. Also 17 lakh people have been affected by the floods. About 65,500 people have taken shelter in 450 relief camps in all eight districts.
In this context, Central Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Central Government has approved to provide Rs 40 crore as flood relief to Tripura state. In this regard, he posted on his X site,
“In view of the floods in Tripura, the central government has approved the advance release of Rs. 40 crore as central government’s share from the State Disaster Relief Fund to provide relief to the affected people. In flood relief and rescue operations, 11 teams of the National Disaster Response Force of the Central Government, Army, Indian 4 Air Force helicopters are already assisting the state government.
Our sisters and brothers in Tripura will see the Modi government standing shoulder to shoulder with them in these difficult times,” he said.
