IPL The mega auction of the series is scheduled to take place this year.
Mega auction for next year (2025) IPL series is going to be held this year. Due to this, there are many changes going on in every team. In this regard, IPL A consultative meeting was held in Mumbai where management and team owners participated.
In which all I.P.L. Team owners also attended. Most of the teams in that meeting demanded to retain 7 players instead of 4. Also, most of the teams have expressed their preference for mini-auctions instead of mega-auctions.
In that meeting, their former captain M.S. The Chennai team management requested the BCCI to bring back the old rule to retain Dhoni. Especially in international cricket retired players are considered as uncapped players if they have exceeded 5 years.
That means players who have retired after 5 years will be considered as players who have not played international cricket. So they were charged Rs. 20 lakhs can be retained for a very low amount. This regulation was in effect from 2008 to 2021. However, in 2021, that rule was removed.
But now the management of Chennai Super Kings has requested BCCI to bring back that rule. If that rule is used, instead of Rs 12 crore, Dhoni will be paid just Rs. 20 lakhs to CSK. The team can sustain. So CSK to retain Dhoni. The administration has adopted that old rule.
But the opposing owners including the vice-owner of the Hyderabad team Kavya Maran also objected to it.
In this case, there is a high possibility that BCCI will bring back that rule.
A BCCI executive said:- “There is a bright chance of the rule coming back. We talked about the rule in a long discussion held last month. It can be brought back when the player rules are announced.”
The fans of Chennai Super Kings team rejoiced with this announcement.
