All Indian visa centers in Bangladesh have been notified to remain closed until further notice.
Bangladesh was ruled by Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. Meanwhile, a protest broke out against the provision of 30 percent reservation in government jobs to the family members of those who participated in the country’s liberation war. As the protest intensified, Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister and took refuge in India.
After Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister, President Mohammad Sahabuddin ordered the dissolution of the country’s parliament. Subsequently, the President announced the appointment of Mohammad Yunus as the head of the interim government. Following this, Bangladesh Army Commander Waqar-Uz-Zaman said that the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus will take office today. Even after Sheikh Hasina left office, the situation there remains dire. At present, some people are taking advantage of the absence of a functioning government there to target the Hindu minority.
In this case, it has been announced that all Indian visa centers in Bangladesh will be closed indefinitely. In this regard, the notification issued by the All India Visa Application Center said, “Due to the volatile situation in Bangladesh, all India Visa Application Centers (IVAC) there will remain closed until further notice. Applicants will be notified of the next application date through SMS and they can collect their passports on the next working day.” .
