Today is National Space Day.
On this same day last year, the Vikram lander, which was sent along with the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, landed on the moon. With this, India became the first country to land on the South Pole of the Moon. It is considered as the most important milestone in the history of Indian space exploration.
Appreciating the ISRO scientists, Prime Minister Modi ordered to name the place where Vikram Lander landed on the South Pole of the Moon as ‘Shivashakti Node’ and to celebrate this day (i.e. August 23) as National Space Day. Accordingly, today is celebrated as National Space Day.
On the occasion of the first Space Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on his X-Space page, “Greetings to all on the first National Space Day. We remember our country’s achievements in the field of space with great pride. It is a day to appreciate the contribution of scientists from our space sector. Our government has taken a series of future decisions related to the space sector. . And, in the coming times, we will make many more efforts,” he said.
