Minister Shekhar Babu has said that senior citizens can apply for free spiritual pilgrimage to Vaishnava temples.
Hindu Religious Charities Minister Shekhar Babu has said that senior citizens can apply to participate in the free spiritual journey to major Vaishnava temples in Tamil Nadu during the month of Puratasi. The statement issued by him in this regard states;-
“People in Tamil Nadu are very devoted to the worship of Gods. They like to visit different temples on the same day. Considering this, in the notification issued during the Hindu Religious Charities Department grant request for the financial year 2024-2025, Amman temples which are popular in the month of Adi and Vaishnava temples which are popular in the month of Purtasi It was announced that 1,000 devotees between the ages of 60 and 70 who are unable to get darshan will be taken, and the cost of this will be Rs 50 lakh as government funds.
In fulfillment of this announcement, 1,000 senior citizens will be taken free of charge (including food) on a spiritual journey in the month of Puratasi to major Vaishnava temples located in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Mayiladuthurai, Trichy, Madurai, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli.
Puratasi month pilgrimage to Vaishnava temples will be started in four phases viz., 21.09.2024, 28.09.2024, 05.10.2024, 12.10.2024. Senior citizens who wish to participate in this spiritual journey should be Hindus and be between the ages of 60 and 70 years.
The applications for this can be downloaded from the website of Hindu Religious Endowment Department www.hrce.tn.gov.in or collected in person at the concerned Regional Joint Commissioner’s office. Completed applications along with relevant certificates should be submitted in the office of the concerned Zonal Joint Commissioner by 19.09.2024.
Therefore, senior citizens who want to go on a spiritual journey to Vaishnava temples in the month of Puratasi can take advantage of this opportunity to have divine darshan.”
