More than 450 festivals are held in 365 days in Tirupati Eyumalayan Temple.
A press release issued by Tirumala-Tirupathi Devasthanam said:-
Tirumala, the abode of Venkatasalapati, the universal lord of Kali Yuga, is always bustling with pilgrimages and festivals. Every day in Tirumala is a festival. It is described as ‘Nitya Kalyanam-Pachathoranam’.
There are 365 days in a year. But it is no exaggeration to say that more than 450 festivals are held in Tirumala throughout the year. These festivals are classified as Nityotsavam (daily), Pakchotsavam (fortnightly), Masotsavam (monthly), Samvotsavam (yearly), Nakshatra festivals (based on birth stars).
Star festivals like Suprapadam, Thomalai, Sahasra Namarchanai, Ashtala Pada Padmarathanam, Bhulangi, Sukravara Abhishekam, Rohini, Arutra, Punarvasu and Siravanam are observed in the daily Utsavam. Also the Jayantis of Matsya, Kurma, Varaham, Narisimha, Vamana, Parasuraman, Rama, Balarama, Krishna, Kalki-dasavatharas and the Trinakshatra festivals of saints who dedicated their lives to Venkatasalapati are celebrated.
Some of the annual festivals are Ugathi Asthanam, Thepposavam, Padmavathi Parinaya Utsavam, Jeshtapishekam, Anivara Asthanam, Ratha Saptami, Vaikunda Ekadasi and Brahmotsavam in sequence every year. Annual Brahmotsavams are considered as the most important religious festival. It is observed 9 days a year with Garuda service on 5th night in vehicle services.
Every day lakhs of devotees from all over the country and abroad visit the Tirupati Venkatachalapati temple and have darshan of Sami. Especially during the annual Brahmotsava festival, they will see the streetcar service and have darshan. It says so.
